Integration of FIXEdge with a Legacy Configuration Management System

One of the largest OTC derivative trade processing companies, covering all significant asset classes including credit, interest rate, equity, forex, and commodity derivatives. This company offers services for affirmation, confirmation, novation, allocation, and reconciliation processes, serving over 2500 buy-side firms and numerous dealers.

The client required a FIX gateway solution that would act as a central data collection hub from various trading venues. This solution needed to transform messages into appropriate formats, deliver them to the backend system, and integrate smoothly with a legacy configuration management system. The goal was to manage endpoint communications and routing configurations using “JSON instructions” and allow for configuration adjustments without needing to restart the FIX gateway.

Solution 

A FIXEdge-based system was incorporated with the client's management system utilizing a custom-developed FIXEdge Agent application. This integration facilitated the management of configuration instructions through a REST API, eliminating the requirement for solution restarts. The solution handled both FIX and ActiveMQ endpoints and conducted FIX to FpML conversions. It was deployed on AWS.

The executed FIXEdge-based solution offers a stable, easily managed FIX gateway that operates continuously. Acting as the central hub, this solution efficiently collects data from numerous trading spaces, converts it into the necessary formats, and transmits it to the backend system for storage and analysis, significantly enhancing the client's operational efficiency.
